I don’t know about you but Sundays are a real drag for me.
And if you’re like me, you wake up one of two ways on most occasions. Feeling refreshed and ready for a relaxing day (if you don’t have kids that is) refreshed from your lovely Saturday night slumber.
You wake up with makeup still on, fax eyelash somewhere in the sheets, hung over from the fun night out with your friends at….. a wine bar.
Either way, I need a lot of self love and care to be ready to take on the week. I had a lot of trial and error on figuring out the best way to help my future self for a great week.
Grocery Shop/Meal Prep
I know, I know. Thing you want to do on Sunday is cook all day. I’m right there with you. But I can promise you my Sundays are so much more productive when I wake up early and go to the market Sunday morning and then meal prep Sunday evening before dinner. There are many recipes online for easy sheet pan bakes that are packed with nutrients and flavor.
My go-to favorite recipe is this One Pan Roasted Vegetable and Sausage Sheet Pan Bake by My Mommy Style (Not Affiliated).
Skim Your Emails
I always like to take a quick look at the emails I have accumulated over the weekend on Sunday nights and delete anything that I don’t need so that I’m not spending my entire Monday morning filtering through emails. I don’t recommend spending a lot of time on this and I never personally answer any emails until Monday so work-mode doesn’t fully engage but rather more of an ease into the week. But if I scan through them the night before, I can come in Monday morning ready to tackle the day with minimal surprises.
Review Your Calendar
Take a look at your calendar for the upcoming week and make a mental note of the important events you have this week. The best way to throw you off your game is not mentally preparing for a big meeting with your boss because you didn’t look ahead.
Have a Home Cooked Meal at the Dinner Table
I am definitely a guilty party when it comes to eating in front of the tv these days. But we always make sure to at least eat a fresh cooked meal at the dinner table together. This way we can spend time together and talk about our upcoming week before things get crazy.
Who doesn’t love a good self-care Sunday? I keep a fairly consistent self-care routine on my Sunday evenings to love myself and start the week fresh. It doesn’t have to be a full on spa day every week but a face mask and a hair wash can go a long way.
